Juxtaglomerular cells secrete A when there is a fall in \[\underline{B}\] ion concentration. Choose the correct pair labelled as A and B.

    A)  A: Renin B : Chloride

    B)  A: Carbonic anhydrase B : Sodium

    C)  A: ATPase B : Potassium

    D)  A: Renin B : Sodium

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

: Renin (secreted by juxtaglomerular cells) converts angiotensinogen in blood to angiotensin and further to angiotensin II. This activates adrenal cortex to release aldosterone which in turn causes reabsorption of sodium ions and water from distal part of the tubule, causing fall in sodium ion concentration in urine.
