Two capacitors of 10 PF and 20 PF are connected to 200 V and 100 V sources respectively. If they are connected by the wire, what is the common potential of the capacitors?

    A)  \[300volt\]

    B)  \[133.3volt\]

    C)  \[400volt\]

    D)  \[150volt\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    : Common potential, \[V=\frac{{{C}_{1}}{{V}_{1}}+{{C}_{2}}{{V}_{2}}}{{{C}_{1}}+{{C}_{2}}}\] Here,  \[{{C}_{1}}=10PF,\,\,{{V}_{1}}=200V\] \[{{C}_{2}}=20PF,\,\,{{V}_{2}}=100V\] \[\therefore \] \[V=\frac{10\times 200+20\times 100}{10+20}=\frac{4000}{30}V=133.3V\]
