    Solution :

    : The isolated DNA fragments can be separated by gel electrophoresis which separates DNA fragments on the basis of charge and molecular weight. The separated DNA fragments can be visualised only after staining the DNA with ethidium bromide followed by exposure to UV radiation. DNA fragments cannot be seen in visible light without staining.
