    Parathormone deficiency in man causes

    A)  hypercalcemia

    B)  hypocalcemia

    C)  goiter

    D)  All of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Parathormone is essential for survival, because it significantly contributes to "homeostasis" by regulating the amount of calcium and phosphate ions in ECF. Irregularties of parathormones are - (i) Hypo   parathyroidism-Hypocakemia (level of calcium in ECF falls). Hyper phosphatemia (level of phosphate rises) and tetany. (ii) Hyperparathyroidism-Hypercalcenua (sharp rise in calcium level in blood and ECF) hypophosphatemia (sharp fall in phosphate level), hypercalciurea.
