    Which are related with photorespiration?

    A)  Spherosome

    B)  Lysosomes

    C)  Glyoxysomes

    D)  Peroxisomes

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Peroxisomes were discovered by Tolbert (1969). These are small spherical bodies about the size of lysosomes (0.3-1.5 \[\mu \,m\]) bounded by single unit membrane. They resemble lysosomes in being filled with enzymes: however peroxisome enzymes are oxidative, of which catalase is the most characteristic. They are found in the leaves of higher plants, in which    photorespiration    takes    place (in \[{{C}_{3}}-\]plant). In this process, green plants release \[C{{O}_{2}}\] during day time.
