The north pole of a bar magnet is moved swiftly downward towards a closed coil and then second time it is raised upwards slowly. The magnitude and direction of the induced currents in the two cases will be

    A)
    First case Second case
Low value clockwise Higher value anticlockwise

    B)
    First case Second case
Low value clockwise Equal value anticlockwise

    C)
    First case Second case
Higher value clockwise low value anticlockwise

    D)
    First case Second case
Higher value anticlockwise Low value clockwise

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

In I case -N pole is moved swiftly towards a coil therefore rate of change of flux will be more and induced current will be high direction of current will be anticlockwise as N pole will be induced In II case -N pole is raised upward slowly rate of change of flux is low and current will also be low direction of current will be clockwise as S pole will be formed. Note N and S are indicating the direction of current.
