However, if he walks at 7 km/h, he reaches the station 6 min before the departure of train. The distance of his home to the Railway station is

    B)  1.5 km

    C)  10.5 km

    D)  1.25 km

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Ans.   Let the distance be x km.             According to the question,             \[\frac{x}{6}-\frac{9}{60}=\frac{x}{7}+\frac{6}{60}\]             \[\frac{x}{6}-\frac{x}{7}=\frac{6}{60}+\frac{9}{60}\]             \[\Rightarrow \]            \[\frac{x}{42}=\frac{1}{4}\]             \[\therefore \]    \[x=\frac{42}{4}=10.5\,\text{km}\]
