CLAT CLAT Solved Paper-2019

  • question_answer
A train 600 m long is running at a speed of 90 km/h. If it crosses a tunnel in one minute, then the length of the tunnel is

    A) 500 m

    B) 550 m

    C) 600 m

    D) 900 m

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Sol.      [d] Let the length of the tunnel be x m. Speed of train\[=\,90\,km/h\,=\,90\,\times \,\frac{5}{18}\]m/sec = 25 m/sec Time taken to cross tunnel = 1 min = 60 sec Now, Total distance covered by train = (600 + x) m We know that, \[Speed\,=\,\frac{Dis\tan ce}{Time}\] \[\therefore \,\,\,\,25=\frac{600+x}{60}\,\Rightarrow \,x+600\,=\,1500\] x = 900 m
