The separation between two masses of 1 kg and 2 kg is 50 cm. Under mutual gravitational force, the acceleration of 2kg mass is

    A)  \[5.3\times {{10}^{-10}}m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    B)  \[2.65\times {{10}^{-10}}m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    C)  \[3.65\times {{10}^{-10}}m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

The gravitational force acting on two particle is \[F=\frac{G\,{{m}_{1}}\,{{m}_{2}}}{{{r}^{2}}}\] \[=\frac{6.67\times {{10}^{-11}}\times (1)\times (2)}{{{(0.5)}^{2}}}\] \[=5.3\times {{10}^{-10}}N\] (in magnitude) The acceleration of 2 kg mass is \[{{a}_{2}}=\frac{F}{{{m}_{2}}}=\frac{5.3\times {{10}^{-10}}}{2}=2.65\times {{10}^{-10}}m{{s}^{-2}}\] This acceleration is towards 1 kg mass.
