A solution of 500 mL of 0.2 M KOH and 500 mL of 0.2 M HCl is mixed and stirred; the rise in temperature is \[{{T}_{1}}\]. The experiment is repeated using 250 mL each of solution, the temperature rise is \[{{T}_{2}}\]. Which of the following is true?

    A)  \[{{T}_{1}}={{T}_{2}}\]

    B)  \[{{T}_{1}}=2{{T}_{2}}\]

    C)  \[{{T}_{1}}=4{{T}_{2}}\]

    D)  \[{{T}_{2}}=9{{T}_{1}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

                    Suppose heat evolved in 1st case is\[{{Q}_{1}}\]and that in the 2nd case it is\[{{Q}_{2}}\]. Then\[{{Q}_{2}}=\frac{1}{2}{{Q}_{1}}\] But \[{{Q}_{1}}=1000\,{{T}_{1}}\] and \[{{Q}_{2}}=500\,{{T}_{2}}\] \[\therefore \]\[500\,{{T}_{2}}=\frac{1}{2}\times 1000\,{{T}_{1}}\]           i.e., \[{{T}_{2}}={{T}_{1}}\]
