Gtyoxysomes are found to occur in the cells of yeast, Neurospora and oil rich seeds of many higher plants. They have enzymes for fatty acid metabolism and gluconeogenesis. The membrane of endoplasmic reticulum disrupts to form closed vesicles of either a rough or a smooth form. These membranous entities were called as microsomes by Claude (1940).
