    Solution :

                    The value of g on the surface of the earth \[g\propto \frac{1}{{{R}^{2}}}\] At a height h from the surface of earth \[g=\frac{1}{{{(R+h)}^{2}}}\] \[\therefore \] \[g=g\frac{{{R}^{2}}}{{{(R+h)}^{2}}}=\frac{9.8\times {{(6400)}^{2}}}{{{(6400+480)}^{2}}}\] \[=8.4\,m\text{/}{{s}^{2}}\]
