Calculate the mass of urea \[(N{{H}_{2}}CON{{H}_{2}})\] required in making \[2.5kg\]of \[0.25\text{ }molal\] aqueous solution.

    A)  \[37.5\text{ }g\]

    B)  \[73.5\text{ }g\]

    C)  \[53.7\text{ }g\]

    D)  \[75.3\text{ }g\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

                    We know that, \[Molality=\frac{moles\text{ }of\text{ }solute}{~mass\text{ }of\text{ }solvent\,(in\text{ }kg)}\] \[\because \] \[mass\text{ }of\text{ }solvent=\frac{mass}{molar\,mass}\] So,          \[Molality=\frac{\frac{mass}{molar\,mass}}{mass\,of\,solvent\,(in\,kg)}\]                 \[0.25=\frac{60}{2.5}\] (\[\because \] Molar mass of urea = 60) or            Mass\[=0.25\times 2.5\times 60\]                                 \[=37.5g\]
