  • question_answer
A hollow metal sphere of radius \[5\text{ }cm\]is charged such that potential at its surface is\[10\text{ }V\]. The potential at the centre of the sphere is

    A)  zero volt

    B)  \[10\text{ }V\]

    C)  same as at point \[5\text{ }cm\]away from the surface

    D)  same as at point \[\text{10 }cm\] away from the surface

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Electric field inside a   spherical    charge    is    everywhere zero, hence, inside a spherical charge the potential at all points is  the same and its value is equal to that on the surface. \[\therefore \]  Potential at surface \[=10\text{ }V.\]
