A bag has four pair of balls of four distinct colours. If four balls are picked at random (without replacement), the probability that there is atleast one pair among them have the same colour is

    A)  \[\frac{1}{7\,\,!}\]

    B)  \[\frac{8}{35}\]

    C)  \[\frac{19}{35}\]

    D)  \[\frac{27}{35}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Required probability \[^{4}{{C}_{1}}\times {{(}^{2}}{{C}_{0}}{{\times }^{2}}{{C}_{1}}{{\times }^{2}}{{C}_{1}}{{+}^{2}}{{C}_{1}}{{\times }^{2}}{{C}_{0}}{{\times }^{2}}{{C}_{1}}\]\[=\frac{\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,{{+}^{2}}{{C}_{1}}{{\times }^{2}}{{C}_{1}}{{\times }^{2}}{{C}_{0}}){{\,}^{4}}{{C}_{2}}\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,}{^{8}{{C}_{4}}}\] \[=\frac{4(2\times 2\times 1+2\times 1\times 2+2\times 2\times 1)+6}{70}\] \[=\frac{4(4+4+4)+6}{70}=\frac{48+6}{70}=\frac{54}{70}=\frac{27}{35}\]
