A string of mass \[3\text{ }kg\]is under tension of\[400\text{ }N\] The length of the stretched string is \[25\text{ }cm\]. If the transverse jerk is stuck at one end of the string' how long does the disturbance take to reach the other end?

    A)  \[0.047\,\,s\]

    B)  \[0.055\,\,s\]

    C)  \[0.034\text{ }s\]

    D)  \[0.065\text{ }s\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Speed of the wave \[=\sqrt{\frac{T}{\mu }}=\sqrt{\frac{500}{m/I}}\] \[=\sqrt{\frac{\frac{400}{3}}{0.25}}=\sqrt{\frac{400\times 25}{3\times 100}}\] \[=5.77\] \[\Rightarrow \] So time taken by disturbance to reach after end \[=\frac{0.25}{5.77}=0.043\,s=0.47\]
