  • question_answer
100 mL of\[1N\,{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}\]is mixed with 100 mL of 1 \[M\text{ }NaOH\]solution. The resulting Solution will be

    A)  highly acidic

    B)  neutral

    C)  highly basic

    D)  slightly acidic

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

     We know that \[{{N}_{1}}{{V}_{1}}={{N}_{2}}{{V}_{2}}\] So,        \[\underset{\begin{smallmatrix}  {{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}} \\  1\times 100 \end{smallmatrix}}{\mathop{{{N}_{1}}{{V}_{1}}}}\,=\underset{\begin{smallmatrix}  NaOH \\  {{N}_{2}}\times 100 \end{smallmatrix}}{\mathop{{{N}_{2}}{{V}_{2}}}}\,\] \[{{N}_{2}}=1\] \[\because \]100 mL of\[1\text{ }N\,{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}\]will neutralize 100 mL of\[1N\text{ }NaOH\]so, the solution will be neutral.
