     Megakaryocytes are present in red bone marrow. These special cell, present in bone marrow produce cell fragments, which are called platlets or thrombocytes. The later have a life span of only two or three days and are constantly     being     replenished     by megakaryocytes. Flatlets lakl DNA synthesis ability   and   their   number varies   from 250,000-4,00000 per cubic milimeter of blood. Leuicocytes and erythrocytes are also produced in bone marrow but there are not formed by the fragments of grant megakaryocytes.
