    D)  biometallurgical techniques

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) strain have been used for designing/raising insect resistant plant. Most strains are toxic to lepidopetran larvae and toxicity is due to toxin gene named as Bt-2. This bacterium is being used since world war-l to check the attack of some pest. Bt toxin is present in form of inactive protoxin which on injestion by insect converts into active toxic form and bind to the surface of midgut epithelial cells of insect and by cell swelling and lysis finally kill the insect.
