The north pole of a magnet is brought near a metallic ring as shown in the fig. The direction of induced current in the ring will be :

    A)  clock wise

    B)  anti-clock wise

    C)  first clock wise then anti-clock wise

    D)  first anti-clock wise then clock wise

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

When the north pole N of the magnet is brought towards the metallic ring, the induced current flows in the ring in such a direction that the face of the ring near the magnet becomes a north pole which repels the magnet and opposes the cause producing the induced current (i.e., opposes the motion of die north pole N of magnet towards the ring). Thus, the direction of induced current in the ring is anti clockwise.
