  • question_answer
For the  given data,  the  calculation corresponding to all values of varis\[(x,\text{ }y)\]is following \[\Sigma {{(x-\overline{x})}^{2}}=36,\Sigma {{(y-\overline{y})}^{2}}=25,\]\[\Sigma (x-\overline{x})(y-\overline{y})=20\] The Karl Pearsons correlation coefficient is

    A)  0.2

    B)  0.5

    C)  0.66

    D)  0.33

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

                    We know, \[{{r}_{xy}}=\frac{\Sigma (x-\overline{x})(y-\overline{y})}{\sqrt{\Sigma {{(x-\overline{x})}^{2}}\Sigma {{(y-\overline{y})}^{2}}}}\] \[=\frac{20}{\sqrt{36\times 25}}=\frac{2}{3}=0.66\]
