The chemical formula of starch is:

    A) \[{{({{C}_{6}}{{H}_{10}}{{O}_{5}})}_{n}}\]

    B) \[{{({{C}_{6}}{{H}_{12}}{{O}_{6}})}_{n}}\]

    C)  \[{{C}_{12}}{{H}_{22}}{{O}_{11}}\]

    D) \[C{{H}_{3}}COOH\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Starch is the most abundant and common storage polysaccharide inplants. It is a polymer of D-glucopyranose units linked by \[\alpha -1,4\]glycosidic linkages. Starch consists of a mixture of amylose and amylopectin in 1 : 4 ratio. The chemical formula of starch is \[{{({{C}_{6}}{{H}_{10}}{{O}_{5}})}_{n}}.\] \[{{\text{C}}_{\text{12}}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{22}}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{11}}}\]is   represented  as  sucrose  (canesugar). It is widely distributed among  higher plants although its commercial sources are sugarcane and sugarbeet. It consists of D-glucose and D-fructose. \[C{{H}_{3}}COOH\]is the chemical formula of acetic acid.
