Who described \[{{\text{C}}_{\text{4}}}\]pathway for firsts time?

    A)  Hatch and Slack

    B)  Robert Hill

    C)  Hans Krebs

    D)  Melvin Calvin

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

In 1967 Hatch and Slack discovered alternative      pathway of \[{{C}_{3}}\] cycle for \[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]fixation called as Hatch and Slack cycle or \[{{\text{C}}_{4}}\]cycle. It is found in plants of tropical region (where\[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\] concentration very much reduced). In \[{{\text{C}}_{4}}\]plants, the bundle sheath cells of leaf show Kranz anatomy. Calvin et. al., traced out the path of \[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]fixation in carbohydrates by using radioisotopes of carbon \[\text{(}{{\text{C}}_{14}}\text{)}\] in alga Chlorella. Hill (1937) demonstrated that \[{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\] comes from photolysis of water by chlorophyll activity. Hans Krebs discovered Krebs cycle, the main path of glucose oxidation.
