The species which are on the verge of extinction because of critically reduced number of individuals due to indiscriminate killing and drastic reduction in their habitat is called endangered species. Those species whose populations are gradually reducing and facing the risk of entering into endangered   category,   are known as vulnerable species. Rare species are those whose population are originally small and scattered. These can any time enter into the categories of vulnerable and endangered species.
