     ZW - ZZ system of sex determination occurs in certain insects (gypsy moth) and vertebrates such as fishes, reptiles and birds and plants  such as Fragaris elatior. The female sex has one Z-chromosome and one W-chromosome, ie, heterogametic and produces two types of ova. The male sex has two homomorphic Z-chromosomes and is homogametic producing single type of sperms. XX - XO system of sex determination is found in certain plants (eg, Vallisneria spiralis, Dioscorea sinuatd) and insects especially those of order-Hemiptera and Orthoptera. The female is homogametic, while the male is heterogametic. XX - XY system of sex determination occurs in man, other mammals certain insects including Drosophila and Lygaeus turcicus and in certain angicspermic   plants.   The   female   is homomorphic,    while   the    male   is heteromorphic.
