  • question_answer
A monkey of 25 kg is holding a vertical rope. The rope does not break if a body of mass 30 kg is suspended from it, but the rope breaks if the mass of body suspended with the rope exceeds 30 kg. What will be the maximum acceleration with which the monkey can climb up along the rope?\[(Take\,g=10m{{s}^{-2}})\]

    A) \[2.0\,m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    B)  \[2.5\,m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    C)  \[3.0\,m{{s}^{2}}\]

    D)  \[4.0\,m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The maximum weight which can be suspended with the rope without breaking it \[\text{=}\,\text{30}\,\text{kg}\,\text{wt}\text{.}\] \[=30\times 10=300\,N\] \[\therefore \] \[300\,N=mg+ma\] or \[ma=300-mg=300-25\times 10=50N\] or \[a=\frac{50}{m}=\frac{50}{2.5}=2.0\,m{{s}^{-2}}\]
