If 100 mole of \[{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\]decompose at 1 bar and 300 K, the work done (kJ) by one mole of\[{{O}_{2}}(g)\] as it expands against 1 bar pressure is : \[2{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}(l)2{{H}_{2}}O(l)+{{O}_{2}}(g)\] \[(R=8.3J\,{{K}^{-1}}mo{{l}^{-1}})\]   JEE Main Online Paper (Held On 10 April 2016)

    A) 498.00

    B) 62.25

    C) 124.50

    D) 249.00

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

                    \[2{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}(l)2{{H}_{2}}O(l)+{{O}_{2}}(g)\]                 \[W=-{{P}_{ext}}(\Delta V)=-({{n}_{{{O}_{2}}}})RT\] \[\because \]100 mol \[{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\]on decomposition will give 50 mol \[{{O}_{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[W=-(50)(8.3)(300)J\] \[=-124500\,J\] \[W=-124.5kJ\] \[\Rightarrow \]Work done by O2(g) = 124.5 kJ Ans.
