The compound that is not a Lewis acid, is

    A)  \[B{{F}_{3}}\]

    B)         \[BaC{{l}_{2}}\]

    C)         \[AlC{{l}_{3}}\]

    D)         \[SnC{{l}_{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Lewis acid are those compound, which can take up an electron-pair (i.e., they have incomplete octet), e.g., \[BC{{l}_{3}},\] \[AlC{{l}_{3}},\] \[SnC{{l}_{4}},\] \[S{{O}_{3}},\]  \[A{{l}^{3+}}\] etc.  \[BaC{{l}_{2}}\] is an ionic-compound which is not deficient in electrons, hence cannot accept electron pair. Hence, it is not a Lewis acid.
