  • question_answer
The volume of a gas is 100 ml at \[100{}^\circ C\]. If the pressure is kept constant, at what temperature will the gas have a volume of 200ml?

    A)  \[50{}^\circ C\]

    B)         \[473{}^\circ C\]

    C)         \[446{}^\circ C\]

    D)         \[200{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Given that, \[{{V}_{1}}=100\,ml,\]   \[{{T}_{1}}=273+100=373\,K\] \[{{V}_{2}}=200ml,\text{ }{{T}_{2}}=?\] From Charles law: \[\frac{{{V}_{1}}}{{{T}_{1}}}=\frac{{{V}_{2}}}{{{T}_{2}}}\]               (at constant P) or            \[{{T}_{2}}=\frac{{{V}_{2}}\cdot {{T}_{1}}}{{{V}_{1}}}=\frac{200\times 373}{100}\]     \[=746\,K=746-273=473{}^\circ C\]
