JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-2002

  • question_answer
A body starting from rest and travelling with uniform acceleration covers 8 m during the 2nd second. During the 5th second it would travel:

    A)  28 m

    B)  16 m

    C)  20m

    D)         24m

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Equation of motion for distance travelled in nth second is \[{{s}_{n}}=u+a\left( n-\frac{1}{2} \right)\] Now the distance travelled in 2nd second in \[8=a\left( 2-\frac{1}{2} \right)\]                                               ?(i) Distance travelled in 5th second is \[{{s}_{5}}=0+a\left( 5-\frac{1}{2} \right)\]                           ?(ii) Now dividing (i) by (ii) we get \[{{S}_{5}}=\frac{9}{2}\times \frac{2}{3}\times 8=24\,m\]
