JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-2004

  • question_answer
Stanley Miller performed an experiment to prove the origin of life. They took gases NH3 and H2 along with:

    A)  \[{{N}_{2}}\] and \[{{H}_{2}}O\]

    B)  \[{{H}_{2}}O\] and \[C{{H}_{4}}\]

    C)  \[C{{H}_{4}}\] and \[{{N}_{3}}\]

    D)  \[C{{O}_{2}}\] and \[N{{H}_{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Stanley Miller using \[C{{H}_{4}}:N{{H}_{3}}:{{H}_{2}}\] gases in the ratio of 2 :2 :1 and water vapours synthesized many simple   organic compounds including amino acids, glycerine, alanine and aspartic acid. According to him life originated from \[N{{H}_{3}},\,C{{H}_{4}},\,{{H}_{2}}\] and \[{{H}_{2}}O\].
