In a \[\text{L-C-R}\] circuit, the capacitance is made one-fourth, then what should be change in inductance, so that the circuit remains in resonance?

    A) 8 times

    B)        1/4 times

    C)        2 times

    D)        4 times

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Resonance frequency\[f=\frac{1}{2\pi \sqrt{LC}}\] For the circuit to remain in resonance, \[\sqrt{LC}=\]constant                 or            \[{{L}_{1}}{{C}_{1}}={{L}_{2}}{{C}_{2}}\]                 or            \[LC={{L}_{2}}\frac{C}{4}\] \[\therefore \]  \[{{L}_{2}}=4L\] \[\therefore \] Inductance should be change to four times.
