    During the meiotic division, the

    A)  homologous chromosomes are separated

    B)  linkage is disturbed

    C)  homologous chromosomes do not segregate

    D)  All of the above

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Meiotic division occurs in reproductive or germ cells. Four haploid cells are produced after meiosis, which are not identical to their parent cell. In this division, homologous chromosomes form bivalent by pairing, during zygotene stage of prophase-I and during anaphase- I. Homologous chromosomes of each bivalent start migrating towards opposite poles of the spindle, because of this separation of homologous chromosomes, each daughter cell receives a haploid group of segregated chromosomes.
