  • question_answer
A car of mass 1000 kg moves on a circular track of radius 40 m. If the coefficient of friction is 1.28. The maximum velocity with which the car can be moved, is

    A)  \[22.4\text{ }m\text{/}s\]

    B)         \[112\text{ }m\text{/}s\]

    C)  \[\frac{0.64\times 40}{1000\times 100}\,m\text{/}s\]

    D)         \[1000\,\,m\text{/}s\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    From circular motion balance condition. \[\frac{m{{v}^{2}}}{r}=\mu N\] here      \[N=mg\] \[\therefore \]  \[\frac{m{{v}^{2}}}{r}=\mu mg\,\,\,\Rightarrow \,\,\,{{v}^{2}}=\mu g\cdot r\] or,          \[V=\sqrt{\mu g\cdot r}\]    \[=\sqrt{1.28\times 9.8\times 40}\]    \[=22.4\text{ }m\text{/}sec\]
