JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-2015

  • question_answer
The focal length of converging lens is measured for violet, green and red colours. It is respectively \[{{f}_{v}},{{f}_{g}},{{f}_{r}}.\] We will get:

    A)  \[{{f}_{v}}={{f}_{g}}\]

    B)         \[{{f}_{g}}>{{f}_{r}}\]

    C)  \[{{f}_{v}}<{{f}_{r}}\]

    D)         \[{{f}_{g}}>{{f}_{r}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Since the refractive index of violet colour \[({{\mu }_{v}})\] is greater than the refractive index of red colour \[({{\mu }_{r}}),\] therefore focal length of violet colour is less than the focal length of red colour or in other words. \[{{f}_{v}}<{{f}_{r}}.\]
