    Magnetic field due to 0.1 A current flowing through a circular coil of radius 0.1 m and 1000 turns at the centre of the coil is:                                                                                                                                       [AIPMT 1999]

    A)  \[0.2\text{ }T\]

    B)       \[2\times {{10}^{-4}}T~\]

    C)  \[6.28\times {{10}^{-4}}T\]

    D)       \[9.8\times {{10}^{-4}}T\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    [c] At the centre of circular coil carrying current, the magnetic field is,
                            \[B=\frac{{{\mu }_{0}}Ni}{2r}\]
                Where   N = number of turns in the coil
                            i = current flowing
                            r = radius of the coil
                Given, \[N=1000,\text{ }i=0.1\text{ }A,\text{ }r=0.1\text{ }m\]
                Substituting the values, we have
                            \[B=\frac{4\pi \times {{10}^{-7}}\times 1000\times 0.1}{2\times 0.1}\]
                            \[=2\pi \times {{10}^{-4}}=6.28\times {{10}^{-4}}\,tesla\]
    Note:    Tesla is the unit of B is SI system. In the same system the unit of B is also \[Wb/{{m}^{2}}.\] In the CGS system, its unit is gauss.
