  • question_answer
Three capacitors of \[2.0,\,\,3.0,\,\,6.0\,\,\mu F\] are connected in series to a \[10\,\,volt\] source. The charge on \[3.0\,\,\mu F\] capacitor is

    A) \[15\,\,\mu C\]

    B) \[12\,\,\mu C\]

    C) \[5\,\,\mu C\]

    D) \[10\,\,\mu C\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Equivalent capacitance is \[{{C}_{s}}\] given by when \[2\mu F\]and \[3\mu F\] and \[6\mu F\] capacitance are connected in series                 \[\frac{1}{{{C}_{s}}}=\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{6}=\frac{3+2+1}{6}=\frac{6}{6}=1\] So, \[{{C}_{s}}=1\mu F\]and\[V=10\,\,volt\] Using the relation                 \[Q=CV=1\times 10\mu C=10\,\,\mu C\]
