  • question_answer
A step-up transformer has transformation ratio\[3:2\]. The voltage in the secondary coil, if the voltage in the primary is\[30\,\,volt\], will be:

    A) \[300\,\,V\]

    B) \[90\,\,V\]

    C) \[45\,\,V\]

    D) \[23\,\,V\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Here: Transformation ratio                 \[{{N}_{s}}:{{N}_{p}}=3:2\] Potential in primary                 \[{{E}_{p}}=30\,\,V\] From the relation, we have                 \[\frac{{{E}_{s}}}{{{E}_{p}}}=\frac{{{N}_{s}}}{{{N}_{p}}}\] or            \[{{E}_{s}}={{E}_{p}}\frac{{{N}_{s}}}{{{N}_{p}}}\]                 \[=30\times \frac{3}{2}=45V\](where \[{{E}_{s}}\] is the voltage in secondary)
