RAJASTHAN PMT Rajasthan - PMT Solved Paper-2004

  • question_answer
On increasing the temperature of semiconductor, its resistance :

    A)  decreases

    B)  increases

    C)  depends on pressure

    D)  does not depend on temperature

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

At room temperature, valence band and conduction band in a semiconductor are half filled. Due to increase m temperature, the more electrons present in valence band acquire sufficient amount of energy and jump to conduction band. In this way, the resistance of semiconductor decreases.
