RAJASTHAN PMT Rajasthan - PMT Solved Paper-2007

  • question_answer
A spaceman in training is rotated in a seat at the end of a horizontal arm of length 5 m- If he can with is and acceleration up to 9g. then what is the maximum number of revolutions per second permissible ? (Take g =10 m/s )

    A)  13.5 rev/s

    B)  1.35 rev/s

    C)  0.675 rev/s

    D)  6.75 rev/s

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    In circular motion, necessary centripetal force to the man is provided by effective weight of man. Thus,                 \[m\times 9g=mr{{\omega }^{2}}=mr\times 4{{\pi }^{2}}{{n}^{2}}\] or            \[n=\sqrt{\frac{9g}{4{{\pi }^{2}}r}}\] Given,   \[r=5\,\,m\] \[\therefore \]  \[n=\sqrt{\frac{9\times 10}{4\times {{(3.14)}^{2}}\times 5}}\] 0.675 rev/s
