RAJASTHAN PMT Rajasthan - PMT Solved Paper-2009

  • question_answer
A telescope, consisting of an objective of focal length 60 cm and a single eye lens of focal length 5 cm is of cussed on a distant object is such a way that parallel rays comes out from the eye lens. If the object subtends an angle \[2{}^\circ \] at the objective the angle subtended by the image at the eye is

    A)  \[10{}^\circ \]

    B)        \[24{}^\circ \]

    C) \[50{}^\circ \]

    D)        \[1/6{}^\circ \]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Given,\[{{f}_{o}}=60\,\,cm,\,\,{{f}_{e}}=5\,\,cm\] Visual angle\[(\alpha )={{2}^{o}}\] Visual angle\[(\beta )=?\] Magnifying power of a telescope\[(M)=\frac{{{f}_{o}}}{{{f}_{e}}}=\frac{\beta }{\alpha }\] \[\therefore \]  \[\beta =\alpha \frac{{{f}_{o}}}{{{f}_{e}}}={{2}^{o}}\times \frac{60}{5}={{24}^{o}}\]
