    Solution :

    Let the number of hens be x. Therefore, the number of cows will be \[(59-x)\]. According to the question, \[x\times 2+4(59-x)=190\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[2x+236-4x=190\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[2x=46\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=23\] So, the number of cows \[=59-23=36\]
