    In the mid-18th century British East India company enjoyed the benefit of dastaq i.e. free duty free passes .These passes are prevent the East India company from paying taxes during trade. This harmed the local traders of Bengal. In 1757 the young ruler of Bengal Sirajjudaulah took away these rights which ultimately led to the Battle of Plassey.
