The sum of the ages of a father and his son is 100 years now. Five years ago, their ages were in the ratio of 2 : 1. The ratio of the ages of father and son after 10 years will be?

    A) 4 : 3

    B) 5 : 3

    C) 3 : 5

    D) 10 : 7

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let Present age of father = x year and present age of Son \[=\left( 100-x \right)\]years Then, 5 years ago, \[\frac{x}{(100-x)-5}=\frac{2}{1}\]                         \[x-5=190-2x\] \[3x=195\]                         \[x=65\] Hence, After 10 years \[\frac{Father's\,\,age}{Son's\,\,age}=\frac{65+10}{(100-65)+10}\] \[=\frac{75}{45}=\frac{5}{3}\]
