    Solution :

    \[3220=12%=42-\left( -\text{ }30 \right)\] = 72 marks  \[100%=\frac{72}{12}\times 100=600\] \[20%\,\,of\,\,600=120\,\,marks\] (but fails by 30 marks Then pass marks = 120 + 30 = 150 marks. Pass percentage  \[=\frac{150}{600}\times 100=25%\]
