    Solution :

    Let the two pipes are a and b respectively the filling capacity of a pipe in 1 minute \[=\frac{1}{20}part\] The filling capacity of b pipe in 1 minute \[=\frac{1}{30}part\] If both the pipes are opened simultaneously the tank will be filled up in: \[=\frac{1}{20}+\frac{1}{30}\] \[\frac{3+2}{60}=\frac{5}{60}=\frac{1}{12}=12\,\,\min utes\]
