    Solution :

    Suppose cost of a table =  Rs x        and cost ©f a chair=Rs. y        Then.    \[2x+3y=3500\] \[3x+2y=4000\]             ... (1) On solving eq. (1) and (2) x = Rs. 1000, And                              y = Rs. 500 Hence, cost of a table \[=Rs.\,\,1000\]
