In a rain-water harvesting system, the rain-water from a roof of \[22\text{ }m\times 20\text{ }m\] drains into a cylindrical tank having diameter of base 2 m and height 3.5 m. If the tank is full, find the rainfall in cm. Write your views on water conservation.

    Answer:

Volume of water collected in system = Volume of cylindrical tank
                            \[L\times B\times H=\pi {{r}^{2}}h\]
                         \[22\times 20\times H=\frac{22}{7}\times 1\times 1\times 3.5\]
                         \[22\times 20\times H=11\]
                            \[H=\frac{11}{22\times 20}=\frac{1}{40}m\]
                            \[=\frac{1}{40}\times 100=\frac{5}{2}=2.5\,\,cm\]
    Rainfall on system \[=2.5\text{ }cm\]
Water conservation is very important as it solves the water problem in the absence of rain.
