At what rate of compound interest per annum will a sum of Rs. 50000 become Rs. 73205 in 2 years?

    A)  21 percent

    B)  19 percent

    C)  17 percent

    D)  15 percent

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    \[A=P{{\left( 1+\frac{R}{100} \right)}^{T}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[73205=50000{{\left( 1+\frac{R}{100} \right)}^{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{73205}{50000}={{\left( 1+\frac{R}{100} \right)}^{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{14641}{10000}={{\left( 1+\frac{R}{100} \right)}^{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[{{\left( \frac{121}{100} \right)}^{2}}={{\left( 1+\frac{R}{100} \right)}^{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[1+\frac{R}{100}=\frac{121}{100}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{R}{100}=\frac{121}{100}-1=\frac{21}{100}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[R=\frac{21}{100}\times 100\] \[=21%\]per annum
