What would be the percentage of thymine in a double stranded DNA sample which  ontains 20% cytosine of the total bases?

    A) 10%

    B) 20%

    C) 30%

    D)  400%

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

In DNA, purines (adenine and guanine) and phyrimidines (cytosine, thymine) occur in equal amount. Adenine pairs with thymine and guanine pairs with cytosine. Hence, in a DNA sample if \[C=20%\]then \[G=20%\] So. A or \[T=\frac{100-(20+20)}{2}\] \[=30%\]
